After nearly four years of waiting, BTS is back ;  and it was worth every second. The Bangtan Boys are returning with their tenth studio album, Arirang, dropping on March 20, 2026, and ARMY worldwide is losing it. From a free live concert at one of Seoul's most iconic locations to an 82-date world tour that spans 23 countries, this comeback is shaping up to be one of the biggest moments in K-pop history. Here is everything you need to know.

Why did BTS go on hiatus in the first place?

If you are new to the BTS universe, here is a quick recap. In late 2022, BTS announced they would be pausing group activities as each member fulfilled South Korea's mandatory military service requirement. One by one, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook enlisted. Jin and J-Hope were discharged in 2024, and RM, V, Jimin, and Jungkook were discharged in early June 2025. Suga was the last member to complete his service, on June 21, 2025. With all seven members finally free, the wait for OT7 was officially over.

What is the Arirang album?

Arirang is BTS's first album in more than five years and their first since every member completed mandatory military service. The title is deeply meaningful ; BTS confirmed the album was named after a centuries-old Korean folk song. "Transcending time and generations, the song has long been associated with emotions of connection, distance, and reunion," their label's statement read. The album is described as exploring the group's identity and roots, and if that does not give you chills, nothing will.

After the album's release, Suga told GQ: "You're going to see a more mature side of BTS this time around." Meanwhile, producer Diplo, who worked on multiple tracks, told TMZ that Arirang is the "craziest album ever" and that it will "shock the world."

The full Arirang tracklist

The 14-track album features: "Body to Body," "Hooligan," "Aliens," "FYA," "2.0," "No. 29" (an interlude), "Swim," "Merry Go Round," "Normal," "Like Animals," "they don't know 'bout us," "One More Night," "Please," and "Into the Sun." The lead single is "Swim." Every single track features writing credits from the BTS members themselves ; a testament to how hands-on they were with this album.

The producer lineup is stacked: alongside longtime BTS collaborator Pdogg, the album features Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Flume, JPEGMAFIA, Mike WiLL Made-It, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, and Teezo Touchdown, among others.

The Netflix concert ; March 21, 2026

This is the big one. BTS will perform live from Gwanghwamun, the main gate of the historic Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, and the concert will be streamed globally on Netflix. The event is called BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang, and it is directed by acclaimed director Bao Nguyen, known for The Greatest Night in Pop. If you have a Netflix subscription, you have no excuse to miss this.

The concert happens the day after the album drops, so ARMY will be heading in already knowing every word. Set your alarms!

BTS: The Return documentary ; March 27, 2026

Can not get enough? BTS: The Return is a feature-length documentary that chronicles the long-awaited return of BTS and the making of Arirang. It offers rare behind-the-scenes access as the group comes back together and charts their next chapter. It premieres on Netflix on March 27, just six days after the live concert. Think of it as the ultimate behind-the-scenes pass ; the kind of access ARMY has always dreamed of.

The Arirang World Tour ; April 2026 to March 2027

If you thought the Netflix concert was big, wait until you hear about the tour. The Arirang World Tour spans more than 82 dates across 34 cities in 23 countries, marking BTS's return to live performances after completing military service. The tour kicks off on April 9 and will keep BTS on the road all the way through March 2027. It is expected to be the largest BTS tour in history, featuring a 360-degree stage setup.

The bad news? Tickets to every announced show have already sold out. Keep your eyes on resale platforms and any newly announced dates ; the boys are not done dropping shows just yet.

How the album was made

For the Arirang album, all seven members returned to a shared creative space, spending two months under one roof in LA, just like their early days living together while building their name. They returned to that shared space after being shaped by time apart and personal change, reflecting on their past as they contemplated what the future of BTS would look and sound like.

As RM put it in their first joint interview since the hiatus announcement: "The most important thing is just that we are here back together again. We're going to see the fans all over the world.
